Persimmon Nectarine and Raspberry smoothie
Persimmons are pumpkin coloured tone in both skin and flesh has a few common names including, Korean mango, Sharon fruit, Kaki and Asian persimmon. This fruit can be eaten firm but best taste happens when it is ripe and soft slightly. I found purely by accident that, when I put persimmons near apples in the fruit bowl they get ripped and soft very quickly. This is a nice surprise for me because I buy them when they are still firm and takes forever to get them soft. I normally have them in smoothies and occasionally in fruit crumble.
This star fruit contains beta carotene, sodium, calcium, iron, and magnesium. It also has vitamins A,B. It also has pectins and phenols.
Nectarines also have amazing health benefits. It helps fight against cancer because of the Vit A, Vit C and also beta-carotene they contain. These are antioxidants which are beneficial to the general wellbeing of the body.
Nectarines are good for the heart and aids in digestion because they are good source of fiber and potassium
The smoothie for the day is going to be
Persimmon, Nectarines, and Raspberries.
- 2 Medium size sharon fruit or persimmon
- 1 apple
- 1 large nectarines
- 1 cup of raspberries
- 200-300ml of milk
Remove the hard leaves from the very top of the persimmon fruit. when riped, it is very easy to pull out, core the apple and cut into smaller chunks, wash and remove the stone from the nectarines and also cut into quarters. Wash the raspberries and put everything in a blender. Add the milk and blend together until really smooth. The persimmon, nectarine and raspberries smoothie is ready to enjoy
Persimmon is great in smoothies because it has natural sugars which make it unnecessary to add sugar or honey to any fruit smoothie. It tastes wonderful and full of goodness. This is why they are a regular appearance in my daily smoothies. Here is another recipe that will kickstart your day with energy.
Persimmon, Grapes and frozen blackberries
- 1 cup of frozen berries
- 1/2 a cup of grapes
- 2 soft persimmons
- 200ml of milk
Wash the persimmon in a cut into big chunks. Rinse the grapes thoroughly and put in a bowl.
Put the chunks of persimmons, grapes and the frozen blackberries in a blender. Add the milk and blend everything together until completely smooth.
